Cordance Completes Acquisition of Hāpara

Cloud-based classroom management software company positioned for accelerated growth with investment and partnership from Cordance.

Cordance today announced its acquisition of Hāpara Inc., an education-market company headquartered in Chicago, IL. Hāpara delivers mission-critical classroom management software that organizes teaching and learning workflows to provide a seamless, high-quality educational experience for learners and educators in an in-person or distance learning environment.

The partnership will bring together the go-to-market expertise of Cordance with the industry expertise of Hāpara. With this investment, Hāpara will continue to deliver to schools their high-impact, innovative solutions backed by operational excellence and the resources to fuel their growth.

“We’re excited to work with Hāpara to accelerate its next phases of development,” says Sharon Love, CEO at Cordance. “The company has proven its ability to create highly effective learning environments. It is at an ideal point to partner with them to expand their impact on the classroom experience even further.”

“With more than 2 million subscribers in over 40 countries, Hāpara serves learners and educators in nearly 15% of U.S. medium & large school districts,” says Wayne Poncia, CEO at Hāpara, Inc. “Being part of the Cordance family will allow Hāpara to increase our reach and improve our product.”

Hāpara (hapara.com) powers connected learning for educators and learners using Google Workspace for Education. Hāpara got its start in 2011 in Auckland, New Zealand, in the Manaiakalani cluster of schools when leaders there first adopted Google Apps for Education. They wanted to find a way to streamline workflows in the new digital classroom environment that emphasized a user-friendly experience for educators that would empower them to personalize learning, provide formative feedback, and facilitate the automation of tasks like differentiation. Hāpara has grown to include products such as Chrome monitoring and content filtering solutions that encourage digital citizenship and empower learners to take ownership of their learning.
